Support the Department of Defense Office of General Counsel and the Department of Justice Office of Federal Programs on Freedom of Information Act Litigations. Management of the Project resides in the Department of Defense Freedom of Information Division (FOID), Executive Services Directorate, of the Washington Headquarters Services. The candidate shall provide technical and implementation support to FOID - Litigation Support Office in its processing of documents, all Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuits for the Office of the Secretary of Defense/Joint Staff (OSD/JS), and providing litigation support and assistance.
• Processing litigation casework by conducting coordination, research, and information release recommendations and assist in reconciling differences identified.
• Identification of non-OSD/JS component equities.
• Identification of information exempted from release IAW the FOIA (5 U.S.C. § 552).
• Meet continually increasing demand of FOIA litigations by assisting other DoD components with litigation support.
One (1) or more years of experience in litigation support services (at a minimum: processing FOIA requests, conducting declassification reviews of Federal documents, knowledge of classification and declassification regulations, working knowledge of 5 U.S.C. 552) and an advanced degree or credentials. Candidate shall possess satisfactory ability to communicate orally and in writing to effectively assist, interpret, and document legal casework. These key people shall obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
